CONTROL OF RACING

H.B. DISTRICT COMMITTEE. The Hawke’s Bay District Raising Committee met yesterday afternoon at the Hastings racecourse. Present: Mewe G. D. Beatson (chairman), T. V. Morrin, W. J. Wood, C. E. Twist. G. Ebbett, J. H. Macniven. The New Zealand Racing Conference advised various licences granted and notified the committee of the various stipendiary stewards’ reports and of fines imp: sed nt race meetings. Files from the Zealand Racing Conference were received bearing on licensed parties in (he Hawke’s Bny district, which were dealt with. Lists Of fines and inspectors’ reports were tecsived from the Napier Park Racing Club, Waipukiiran Jockey Club, Dannevirke Racing Club and the Hawke’s Bav Jockey Club and were all approved. , Applications for licenses were dealt with and forwarded to the New Zealand Racing Conference to place before their licensing committee. The Dates Committee has approved the Wellington Trotting Club’s application for a special meeting on May 19, for which a permit was available. At the yearling sales a chestnut colt by Heroic, from Shepherd Princess, described by the auctioneer as the living image of his sire, brought 1100 guineas, the purchaser being Mr. R. Skelton. Another by Heroic, from Tresseith, also brought 1100 guineas. The purchaser was Mr. E. O’Sullivan. A chestnut colt by Rampion brought 500 guineas, nnd other Rampion progeny made from 85 to 275 guineas. A Brazen colt made 260 guineas; Legionnaire stock from 140 to 425 guineas; Caledon stock froin 70 to 275 guineas; and an Excitement filly 300 guineas.
