ST. MARY’S GUILD MEETS INTERESTING AFTERNOON (From Our Own Correspondent) WAIPUKURAU, April 6. The monthly meeting of St. Mary’s Anglican Guild, Waipukurau, was held in the old church, yesterday afternoon, when there was a fair attendance of members. Several apologies were re ceived for absence. The articles of the competition for the month, best article made from a sugar-bag, dis played some very useful and artistic work. Miss A. Bcachen was awarded lirst place with a gardening apron art istieally worked with old-fashioned flowers in coloured wools; a tea cosy was also much admired. Mrs NelsonFoster acted as judge and was accord ed a vote of thanks. The competition for next month will be an article made from one yard of cretonne. Great interest is being taken in the “500” evening to be held on April 18. It was decided to call a meeting nt the end of May of all those interested in the spring bulb show, when the stallholders will be appointed. A much appreciated afternoon tea was dispensed by Mesdames Wharmby and W. 11. L. Williams. Mrs Adams, who has been staying with her sister, Mrs L. Renner, of Waipukurau, returned to Carterton today accompanied by Miss C. Berner.
