RANDWICK STABLE FIRE

Started by Cigar Butt SYDNEY, April 6. The yearlings which perished in the fire at Mr. H. Chisholm’s Randwick stables were a brown filly by Grosvenor, which brought 70 guineas; a black colt by Rosewing, 140 guineas; and a chestnut gelding by Diacquenod, 65 guineas. Mr Price’s stables contained Kuvera, Sir John, Whittingham, Ranchero, Blixton, Gladswood and several others which took part in the autumh meeting at Randwick. Chatham was quartered in a box on the east side of the stables and was in no immediate danger owing to the wind being in the opposite direction. Mr Chisholm lost his polo equipment, harness and other gear, valued at £2OO. The fire is believed to have started through a cigar butt igniting the coil matting in the arena.
