SUGAR INDUSTRY IN BRITAIN

Comprehensive Inquiry to be Made British Official Wireless Service. RUGBY, April 4. The Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Minister of Agriculture have appointed a committee to make a comprehensive inquiry into the condition of the sugar industry in the United King dom, including both home-grown beet sugar and imported sugar, and, having in mind the changes in the structure of the industry which would follow upon reorganisation under the Agricultural Marketing Acts, to make recommendations for structure, conduct, and, in particular, as to the application of State aid as far as this is considered necessary. The committee consists of Mr Wilfred Greene, K.C., chairman, Sir Kenneth Leo and Mr Cyril Lloyd.
