GLIDE ACROSS CHANNEL
English Girl’s Feats LOOPED SEVEN TIMES (Received 6, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 5. Starting from Frankfort yesterday in a German glider towed by an aeroplane, Joan Meakin, the 24-year-old London air girl, to-day took off from Ostend and landed at Lympne 74 minutes later. Miss Meakin said that the crossChannel glide at a height of 2000 feet was lovely. She later glided to Heston in an hour, looping seven times before landing.
