SYDNEY YEARLING SALES
DARK FOX PROGENY SELLS WELL SYDNEY, April 5. The yearling sales were continued today, but the bidding was not so brisk. Progeny of Dark Fox, offered on account of Sir Hugh Denison, averaged 215 guineas for five fillies and one colt. The Randwick trainer Jack King paid 300 guineas for a brother of Clever Fox, the Anniversary Handicap winner, and Colonel Rutledge paid 260 guineas for a nice filly. The demand for Bullhead stock was disappointing, the top price, 280 guineas, being paid by Mr W. Sweeney, of Tasmania, for a brown colt, while 250 guineas was paid by Mr H. Foster, of Sydney, for a chestnut colt. Other Bullhead progeny ranged from 40 to 190 guineas. Stock by Dignity made from 35 to 210 guineas. A chestnut colt by Tippler (imp.)— Trice by Tree was sold to Wright, Stephenson & Co., New Zealand, for 150 guineas.
