AUTUMN RACING

H.B. JOCKEY CLUB Fields For To-morrow REVIEW OF THE RUNNERS (By “The Barb.”) Fair fields have made the acceptance for Saturday’s races at Hastings and the racing has every indication of being most interesting. Betting facilities will be the same as last Saturday (win and place). The course is in splendid order and fast times are likely to be recorded. The weather appears to be settled, and, given a fine day, there should be a large attendance. The following is a review of the fields :—

Manuiri has been most consistent of late. At Feilding he was third and first. Million won last Saturday, but luck was a little on her side. Kimbo wa 8 the unlucky one here on Saturday last. Kahunoke has won in his one attempt, but in. a schooling lesson on the Hastings track on Wednesday afternoon he did not impress in the least. Cotsfield will be a very dangerous contedor, as also will Ex Dono, who was interfered with last Saturday when Kimbo tumbled. Wee Boy is the only candidate without form prospects. Most money may be invested on Kimbo Manuiri Cotsfield

Pikiao has just recovered from a cold. De Trop was second last week. Seattle, on last week’s unlucky third, must enter calculations. Marsong is difficult to recommend. Market Inn has yet to show form. Winter Sport has only been in work for about a month. Bold Bill is on the improve. Padishah is still backward, but last week's race should nee an improvement. Marae Quex looks improved i ncondition with recent racing. MeHeath, favourite last week, disappointed greatly. Heliotype will be an outsider. Lady Wessex needs to improve. The favourites on the machine may be Marae Quex Seattle De Trop

The virtual top-weight, Queen's 'Pride, ran a nail into her foot on Wednesday, but before any serious damage was done it was extricated and the filly appears none the worse for the mishap. On form she ap(xiais one to attract attention. Arauline won at Waipukurau. Peggy's Joy has been second in her last three starts. Talari, in her one start at Napier, failed to impress. Celerrimus has very little to recommend him. Three that may appeal most are Queen’s Priifie Arauline Peggy’s Joy

Emotion has just had a oouple of races at Feilding, yet still appears on the big side. Gainsfid has been consistent as in his last ten starts he has been first six times and only once out of a place. Aescuius ran well last week. Blue Boy ran poorly last Saturday, but with Bert Morris in the saddle may go better this tune. Stitch, on last week's form, ?ay bo liked. Sylvan Dell ran two great seconds at Waipukurau. Anemometer will bo an outsider. 'The favourites may bo SUtoh Sylvan Dell Blue Boy

Royal Shift recently ran two good rares. Conference was unlucky last Saturday. Kahunoke is said to be starting in the Hurdles. High Grader is not showing the form he did last autumn. TreS See is better now than ever, and runs a solid eight iurlongs. Tycoon looks the part, but will have to bo taken on trust over the mile—a distance be has not yet been tried over. Royal Record has shown signs of running on, and last week was going very easily when finisliing in the van in the Maiden. lorado is fair. Luna Lux is a chaser of class but on the flat may not apneal Hatuma might surprise. I lie remainder have nn form The favourites mav bo Tres Sec Royal Shift Royal Record

Hunting Jay has improved with re- 1 cent racing, and has escaped a rehaudican Grumpy appears to h*v« lost term. Vawboen is hardly herself,

but should any qf the others receive a rough trip, luck may help her. Hybiscus won here a week back, but then at Waipukurau disappointed greatly over a furlong less. Sabatini is in great heart. Marae Quex makes up the half dozen runners. Most money may be invested on Hunting Jay Sabatini Hybisous

This is about the best field of the day. Royal Hunting won at Feilding. Slipperly is one that always has to be considered. Speed is now back to his very best distance. Souchong ran a good race at Waipukurau. Cultus is gradually getting near the topnotchers in weight. Royal Bengal cannot bo ignored. Hunting Day has it on him, but he is too much of an “iffer.” Stitch, if started, will be one to be considered. April Fool should run a good race. Sylvan Dell stood up to two races at Waipukurau to run Cullus to a close second, and now meets the three-year-old on 131 b better terms. Most money may be invested on April Foci Royal Hunting Speed TO-MORROW’S RIDING ENGAGEMENTS. T S Fanning: Kimbo, Heliotype, Aescuius, Royal Shift (doubtful) and Sabatini. ~ J.
