MINER HIT BY PLANK
Plane Trip io Hospital (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HOKITIKA, April 5. While engaged working a 40-foot shaft nine miles below Haast yesterday afternoon, a plank that was being lowered slipped and struck a man named Saunders on the nose, almost severing it, and inflicting arm and body injuries. The patient was brought to Hokitika by aeroplane this morning.
His injuries are serious but not dangerous. He is married and aged 40
