WARD-POTTO. A very pretty wedding look place at JI a.m. this morning, April 4, at St. Matthew’s Church, Hastings, when the Rev. Carl Tanner officiated at tho marriage of Cora Madeline Potto, Hastings, to John H. Ward, son of Mrs. H. Ward and the late Mr. Ward, Wellington. The bride (who was given away by her brother, Mr. A. E. H. Potto, Auckland) wore a lovely gown of cream chiffon moulded to the knees and flaring gracefully into a train, the simply fashioned corsage having prettily draped sleeves. The bride was veiled in a cloud of soft cream tulle worn over the face and held in place at the sides with orange blossom and forming a. long train over the frock. An arm shower of roses and begonias shading from cream to apricot completed a very charming ensemble. Mrs C. R. Foster, matron of honour, was gowned in a very becoming model of rose-beige crinkle georgette mounted on vieux-rose, with very finely pleated frills from hem to the waist which was. finkshed with a rose velvet sash. A little cape was softly tied at the side, falling over one shoulder. A bouquet of roses in a still deeper colouring was carried. Flower girls were little Verna Head (Whakatane), niece of the bride, and Jill Foster, who both wore very sweet frocks of rose-beige organdie over rose with deeper rose velvet shoes. Garlands of real flowers circled their heads and balls of flowers were suspended with ribbons from their wrists. The best man was Mr. Thomas Smith, of Wellington. Mr. Spinney, the organist, played appropriate music during the ceremony. Later the bridal party returned to Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Foster's home in Charlotte Crescent, Hastings, for luncheon, which was served in buffet fashion, the table being beautifully decorated with roses and maidenhair fern. OGILVIE—WHITAKER. St. Matthew’s Church, Hastings, was the scene of a picturesque wedding on Thursday, March 29, when the Rev. Canon C. Mortimer-Jones officiated at the marriage of Ada Maude Whitaker, daughter of Mrs. W. M. Watson, 141 Vigor Brown St., Napier, to Alexander Ogilvie, son of Mr. C. Ogilvie, Perth, Scotland. Mr. C. B. Spinney, L.R.A.M., played the wedding marches. The bride, who was given away by her brother Mr Amner-Watson, wore a beizc silk frock with a little bolero worn with a rope of pearls. A pretty beize hat trimmed with blue, and blue shoes were worn and a lovely sheaf of white roses, gladioli, freesias and maidenhair fern tied with blue streamers all toned beautifully. Miss Agnes Reynolds, as bridesmaid, wore a very becoming frock of turquoise blue satin beaute with a cape underlined with pink. A pink ribbon-velvet sash, pink shoes, and a little pink gaged French cap and pink mittens were nil very effective. A sheaf of Scotch blue-bells and gladioli, maidenhair fern, and pink streamers was carried, and the bridegroom’s gift of pink crystal beads and car-rings was worn. Mr. Charles Brown Bueham was best man. A reception was held later at 106 Lyndon road W„ where guests were entertained in a marquee on the lawn, with effective decorations of pink and blue streamers and a large white wedding bell. About 60 guests were present. Miss N. Keith was in charge of the catering and a very dainty repast was provided with a two tiered wedding cake in front of the bride and bridegroom. The usual leasts were honoured. Telegrams from all parts of tho Dominion were’ received. The bride's mother. Mrs. Watson, wore a handsome frock of black satin beaute with n black hat trimmed with white feathers, and her bouquet was of red roses. Mrs. W. Annan, sister of the bride, wore blue crinkle-crepe with a white hat, gloves, and shoes to tone, nnd her bouquet was of cream roses and carnations; Mrs. J. Burnett, sister of the bridegroom, wore black silk crepe with a large black hat and n bouquet of cream roses and maidenhair fern. Mrs. F. M. Acre, mint of the bride (Wniron). wore nnvy blue crepede chine with relief of red and a bouquet of red roses. The bride nnd bridegroom left later for the north, the bride’s smartly cut costume of navy blue serge, worn with a white felt bat. gloves, and a satin blous", also a fur necklet and handbag to tone.
