HARD-UP, FANCY-DRESS DANCE On Easter Monday night a most enjoyable dance was held in the Haumoana Hall. There was a large attendance of local dancers and dancing, both modern and old-time, was enjoyed till after midnight. Splendid music was supplied by Mr. W. McCarthy and excellent extras were played by Mes dames® Coekeri 11 and McKeesick. A portion of the hnll was screened oIT for non dancers, who played cards. A delightful supper was handed round and thoroughly enjoyed. • The prize for the best fancy dress was won by Mrs. Starnes and prizes for the best hard-up costumes were won by Miss Coldwell and Mr. Calnan. The proceeds from this function were in aid of the tennis club, and Mrs McCarthy, as organiser, is to be congratulated on her success. A competition held in conned ion with the tennis club was won by Miss C. Venables. LADIES’ GUILD. The monthly meeting of the Hnumoana Ladies’ Guild was held in the church on Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Baker presiding over a fairlv large attendance. The Rev. E. H. Kcdgley and Mrs. Kcdgley were present. A most delightful afternoon was spent, after which a dainty afternoon tea was dispensed, the hostesses being Mesdames Sommerville, Baker nnd Castle. It was intimated that a Harvest Festival would be held on Sunday 15th. inst.
