Conversaltion With London EARLY RESULT EXPECTED — «m ■ Following a wireless telephone conversation with London, the Auckland lain. Bridge Companv hns been notified by the solcitOrj for the English financiers who are concerned with th' bridge project that they are hopeful that the negotiations will be completed early this month. The following statement was issued on Saturday by the secretary of the company, Mr C. G. Ashdowne:— "Through the courteous assistance of tho Auckland Chief Post Office, the secretary vf the Harbour Bridge Co., was put into wireless telephonic communication with the London solicitors for the financiers. The object of the conversation, which was to expedite negotiations, was achieved, inasmuch as the company is assured that matters are progressing to the entire satisfaction of all parties concerned. “The conversation, which came through particularly clearly, confirmed recent important cables, and indicated that successful completion of the nego. tiations was not likely to be long delayed. It is possible that it may be necessary for a representative of the company to leave for London at an early date. -Should this prove to lx* the case, tentative arrangements ham been made accordingly "We received a cablegram from the solicitors stating: ‘Hopeful of reaching finality in negotiations early in April.’ Ihis message was sent, in response to our request for cabled confirmation of the outcome of the wireless telephonic conversation.’ Commenting upon the statement, Mr A. Harris, M I* for Waitcinnta, who hns conducted various negotiations on behalf of the company, stated that tho directors were sparing no effort to secure early completion of the scheme, and ho thought thev would succeed.
