Northern Cricket Tour HOLIDAY GAMES PLAYED A cricket team representing the Hastings Picnic Club journeyed to Wairoa last Friday, remaining through the holidays. The weather, for the most part, was very inclement, and not in the least inspiring for cricket. The visitors had a glorious time ana are loud in their praises of Wairoa hospitality. Without invidiousness, special praise must be given to Mr. and Mrs. Pickering for their untiring efforts in the direction of making the visitors welcome. The ladies of Wairoa helped in a general way, and nothing was left undone to make the outing a rea'ly happy one. Frasertown was also visited and there again a royal welcome was awaiting them. The games were well contested. Frasertown had to be satisfied with one innings as the weather was far from kind.

The usual incidental speeches were in the hands of Mr. Jonson, for the Hastings boys, who expressed a hope that the event would resolve itself into an annual visit to both towns. Mr McDonald replied on behalf of Wairoa. and Mr. Arundel for Frasertown. Plans for the trip were well organised, the teams being accommodated in tents which were erected in propertv kindly placed at their disposal by Mr. Pickering. Wairoa and Frasertown will play the return game in Hastings next season, and a truly hospitable welcome awaits them. ■ Results of the games were as follows:— V. WAIROA. Hastings batted first, and after be ginning rather disastrously, Cnidied the innings with the score of 87 runs, thanks to E. Goodall, who made 2!) and McKenzie 22. Bowling for Wairoa P Healan took two for 8, Oldham two for 14 and J. White two for 16. Wairoa replied with 104 runs, M. Hutchinson 10, Golan 11, White 14 and Marslin 10. E. Goodall took three wickets for 28 runs, Hatton two for 16 and Christison three for 34. In the second innings the Hastings boys could only make lit (H. McKenzie 20) and thus leave Wairoa with 33 runs to get for an outright win, which they did with the loss of six wickets. Bowlers for Wairoa were Healan three for none, and Crocker four for 19. For Hastings. Hatton took two for 11. E. Goodall t”o for 14 and J. Christison three for 29. V. FRASERTOWN. Frasertown batted first and made 103, the best scorers being M. Couper 33, Knox 22, and Jenkins 15. Bowling for Hastings, Hatton took six wickets for 42 runs and E. Goodall two for 2i>.

Hastings replied with 117 runs, R. Mit ehell contributing 49 runs. Brigden 20 not out, Christiaon 13, and E. Goodnll 12. XT Couper took six for 25 and Brown four for 28. Frasertown's second innings proved di-'strous. three wickets being down for six runs when stumps were drawn on account of the rain, thus Hastings won by 14 runs on the first innings.
