Wider Negotiations Pending RECIPROCAL BARGAINING By Telegraph—Press Assn—Copyright WASHINGTON, April 2. In connection with a Court decision to-day that coal imported from England and Germany during 1032 is nondurable due to the existing most-favoured-nation treaties, the State Department issued a statement clarifying ' the course of action taken under the reciprocal tariff powers. It stated that, if tho measure pending in Congress becomes law, efforts "’iff he made to extend them to other countries through the negotiation of treaties. The statement intended to show treaty nations that they have nothing to lose and probably will be gainers through a comprehensive study of desirable imports and adjustment of tariff to encourage them. AND STEEL TRADE NEW YORK, April 2. | At the annual shareholders’ meeting Air Myron Taylor, chairman of the directorate of the United States Steel declared that there were definite signs of recovery visible. He felt that the N.R.A. was valuable to meet the emergency, but he would not favour it as a permanent policy. Mr Taylor’s optimism was coincident with a three dollar a ton rise in steel prices, which immediately was reflected iu automobile prices.
