PALMERSTON V. HASTINGS Following on their outright defeat of the Napier junior representatives on Friday and Saturday last, the touring Palmerston North side met the Hastings junior representatives at Cornwall Park, Hastings, yesterday to secure a first innings victory by 47 runs. The visitors declared their second innings closed to leave the home side HO to make, in half an hour. Hastings made a gallant effort to win, requiring only 24 when stumps were drawn. . ,

Batting first the visitors made 169 (Lambert 80, McGill five for 50 and Fitzgerald four for 43). The Hastings side replied with 138 (Orr 28, McGill 27, Fippard 27 and Fitzgerald 12.
