MELBOURNE AIR RACE

PLANS FOR N.Z. PARTICIPATION. <By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 31. A committee has been formed in Auckland to endeavour to arrange New Zealand representation in the Melbourne Centenary Air Race. It was stated at a meeting that the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates had been approached informally, and was personally favourable. Mr Spencer Mason, of the Auckland Aero Club, said that, the cost of participation in the race would be about £10,600. An outstanding aeliioveuient by a New Zealand competitor would be a good advertisement for the Dominion, and would give great stimulous to aviation. It was decided to ascertain the attitude o.t the Government to the project, end to meet again next week.
