Close of Series COMPARISON WITH FEBRUARY (Received 17, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, .March 10. At the wool sales 5866 bales were offered, of which 5138 were New Zealandabout 5000 were sold. Neiv Zealand sales: Greasy crossbred, Waiheke, top ]sld, average 12 Jd; slipe halfbrod lambs, W.F.M., top 18d average 16 |-Bd. closed firm. Compared with February closing, Merino broader haired styles were barely 5 per eent. lower; scoured fleece bulky pieces were unchanged; short scoureds declined 5 per cent.; carbonising wools, ]5 p rr cent.; crossbreds, fine 5 per- cent, medium and course, 10 per cent.slipes, medium and coarse, 5 per cent.; fine, uichanged. The total catalogued was 76,396 bales. I The Home market took 32,000 bales, j and the Continent 34,000. The total amount held over was 52,000 bales. 1 The N.Z Loan and Mercantile | Agency Co., Ltd., have received tin* following cablegram from their London house, under date 16th inst.:—As compared with last sales' closing rates, prices are lower Jd to Id per lb. for coarse crossbred slipe and medium crossbred slipe. Lower Id per lb for medium greasy crossbred, coarse greasy crossbred, medium scoured crossbred and coarse scoured crossbred. Lower par to jd per lb. for Merino and crossbred lambs, fine crossbred and Merino. Large quantities of medium crossbred and coarse crossbred withdrawn. Bids lower than quotations. The sales closed with a fairly firm tone to-day.
