Monthly Meeting Held POPPY DAY ARRANGEMENTS The usual monthly meeting of tho Hastings R.S.A. was held last evening. Col. H. Holderness presided, and others present were Messrs. D. T. McCormick, C. Brabble, W. A. Mclntyre, L. J. B. Hammond, L. J. Mackersey, G. 11. Roach, F. H. Goldfinch, P. J. S. George, and the secretary, Mr. V. A. Thomson. Messrs. Brathwaite and Furniss, representing the Legion of Frontiersmen, were also present by invitation. Apologies were received from Messrs. T. O’Dowd and B. E. Hunt. The following was adopted as a remit for the annual conference, to be held in June:—“That the Pensions Board be requested to consider applications for pensions by dependants of disabled soldiers whose marriage took place not more than a few months over seven years from the date of discharge. ’ ’ The secretary reported that tho financial membership is now 260. Mr. R. D. Brown was appointed auditor in the place of the late Mr. Harold Brathwaite. The meeting discussed arrangements for Anzae Day. and accepted the offer of the Legion of Frontiersmen to as sist at the ceremony at the Cenotaph. With regard to Poppy Day, Messrs. Goldfinch and Roach were appointed as a sub-committee to formulate a scheme for the sale of poppies, and to submit their scheme to a meeting being conveyed by the Mayoress, Mrs. G. A. Maddison, for Monday, March 26. It is hoped to sell 4000 poppies this year.
