Lucerne meal should be lucerne hay ground to a meal; lucerne dust, chiefly the leaves of dried lucerne with a small proportion of stalk, is a residue after threshing lucerne for seed. The analysis of lucerne meal, according to an authority, is: Protein, 10.2; carbohydrates, 38.7; fat, 0.8; and of lucerne dust: Protein, 17.3; carbohydrates, 35.9; fat, 3.0. The latter is therefore the best, wlicn it can be obtained.
