PAHIATUA DAMAGE
Assistance From Government LOCAL BODIES TO REPORT. By Talegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 16. The situation in the Pahiatua district as a result of the damage caused by last week’s earthquake was discussed at a meeting of Cabinet this afternoon. The Minister of Lands, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, whose electorate includes the town of Pahiatua, and the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. R. Masters, visited the district on Monday last and heard representations from a committee of citizens. At the conclusion of the . Cabinet meeting the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, stated that it had been decided to ask the local bodies in the districts effected to collect information in regard to losses so that the Government would then be in a position to consider the question of what assistance should be given.
