Small but distinct fissures, the result of the earthquake on Thursday night, were noticed by those working on the Tutaekuri diversion scheme near Powdrell’s Bend yesterday, tand ana water having been forced through these fissures. Similar conditions were also observed in the old bed of the lutaekun, sand which had previously been dry having become moist. It is not known yet whether there has been any alteration in the levels as a result oi the disturbance, but a survey is to be carried out in the near future to eev if such is the case.
