CAR CONVERSION CASE

A plea of guilty was entered by Kenneth Hugh Gough, farm hand, aged 27, at the Morrinsville Court on two charges of converting motor cars and a charge of stealing a pair of motor gauntlets. The accused admitted taking a car from outside a picture theatre and driving to a country dance on Saturdaynight, also on February 24 he took a car from the yard of an hotel and again drove to a counlry dance. The vehicle was abandoned when it rati out of petrol. Seven previous charges of conversion were known against the accused. Previous convictions, it was stated, had no deterrent effect. The accused was sentenced to three mouths’ reformative detention on each charge of conversion, the terms to be concurrent. On the charge of theft he was convicted and discharged
