FRUIT-PACKING EVENT
Won by Mr. C. Robertson As usual tin apple-packing competition at the Autumn Show attracted both competitors and the general public. Run as an open handicap, a strong pace lias sot. despite the fact that the work was carried out in the open air instead of in the sired, as is done in actual practice. The standard of pack was good. accordiug to Mr N. J. Adamson, Government Orchard Instructor, who judged this event. In judging points were awarded on the quality as well as the speed of the pack. This year Mr C. Robertson secured the premier award; it. was bis first appearance in this competition The winner had a handicap of 8 points, I each point being equivalent to six sec- ' onds in time. Last year’s winner, Mr R. Galbraith, who started from scratch seemed third place.
