CHINESE RAILWAY
Purchase by Japan UNCONFIRMED REPORT (Received 15, 10.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI, March 14. Reports emanating from Harbin indicate that Japan has purchased Soviet interests in the Chinese Eastern Railway for 35,000,000 yen, though neither Soviet nor Manehukuo circles are prepared to confirm this. There are obvious signs that an amicable solution has been reached, whereby Manehukuo is permitted to operate the line unhampered.
