POLO TOURNAMENT
CLOSE AND EXCITING GAMES RESULTS OF YESTERDAY’S PLAY The Yankee polo tourament which commenced on Tuesday at the Hawke’s Bay Polo Grounds in Omahu road, was continued yesterday in fine weather before a well filled stand of enthusiastic supporters. Six games were played during the day, and they produced some very close and exciting contests. The handicapping, as W’as the case on Tuesday, worked splendidly, as will be seen from the close results in the games. Following are the results of the games played yesterday:— J, J. Gatenby’s team, with a handicap of 3, drew with J. Lyons’ team, with a handicap of 2, with scores of 4 all. F. McKenzie’s team (scr.) was dofeated by N. Campbell’s team (scr.) by 2 goals to 1. Atua, with a handicap of 4, drew with Wallingford (scr.), 5 goals each. J. J. Gatenby's team, handicap 3, drew with F. McKenzie’s team (sen), 4 goals each. N. Campbell’s team (scr.) defeated Wallingford (scr.) by 5 goals to 3. J. Lyons’ team, handicap 2, was beaten by Atua, handicap 4. by fl goals to 4. To-morrow, commencing at 10 a.m„ the finals for the two cups—Mr Nelson’s Handicap Cup and Mr J. .1. Gatenby’s Open Cup—will be played off. Given good weather there should eventuate some very exciting and interesting games.
