KILLING OF GAME

Amending Regulations The latest issue of the New Zealand Gazette contains amended regulations in connection with the killing of native and imported game which are of special interest to sportsmen. The regulations prohibit tho use of any automatic or auto-loading gun, rifle, pea-rifle or punt gun. For tho taking of game an aeroplane must not be used, while it has been made equally unlawful to use a power boat, such as a launch, for this purpose. An aeroplane or motor boat may be used, however, for the purpose of travelling to or from a rendezvous. No form of silencer to any gun is permitted, nor shall it be legal to use live decoys. In order to take game during an open season any person must be first tho holder of a license under the Animals Protection and Game Act. The holder of a license cannot, however, take game on areas exclusively used for acclimatisation purposes or sanctuary, nor can he enter upon any private land without the consent of the owner or occupier, or upon any State forest.
