GAIN FOR NAPIER

ST. JOHN AMBULANCE OFFICIAL SERGEANT BUTCHER, OF NELSON. The members of the Nelson Ambulance Division and Nelson Nursing Division recently farewelled Sergeant C. H. Butcher, who takes up a position with Hallenstein Bros, in Napier this week. Sergeant Butcher was one of the few people who were responsible for the revival of the St. John Ambulance movement in Nelson four years ago. Since then he has taken a very active part in the movement. The Divisional Surgeon, Dr. D. C. Low, voiced the opinion of the members when he said that Sergeant Butcher had impressed him as an ideal St. John Ambulance man, careful and efficient in his work and always ready at anv time to give his services in any cause. His record bears out this statement and his place in the Nelson Division will be hard to fill. Divisional Superintendent R. A. Stedman, after a few words of appreciation of Sergeant Butcher’s services which were amplified by Divisional Officer E. Ashton made a presentation to Sergeant Butcher on behalf of the members of the Division. Sergeant Butcher made a suitable reply and thanked the members for their appreciation of his services and their good wishes for his future, and stated it was his intention to join the Napier division.
