BROOD MARES
HIGH-PRICED FAILURES. A feature of tha bloodstock sales in England last December was the spirited competition for brood mares, four realising over 27,000 guineas. The highest price was realised by Salome, a six-year-old daughter of Spion Kop, grandson of Carbine. Following is a list of high-priced brood mares sold in England at various periods:— Gns. good investments. La Fleche gave a very satisfactory return, for six of her progeny were sold as yearlings for 21,000 guineas.
