HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
MEETING OF ONGAONGA BODY. SHOW TO BE HELD ON DECEMBER <5. The annual general meeting of the Ongaonga Horticultural Society was held in tho Ongaonga Hall on Thursday evening. There was a fairly good attendance of those interested, under the chairmanship of Mr. W. E. Coles. The chairman opened a discussion on the advisability of renewing the show fixture, which has been in abeyance for the past two years. He said that the credit balance' held by the society was £lO 10/-. After a full discussion it was decided to hold the show this year early in December. The following is the list of officers elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. A. E. Jull, M.P.; president, Mr. B. Gray; chairman, Mr. W. C. Coles; secretary, Miss M. N. Coles; committee, Mesdames Harris, J. Coles, W. Freemantle, R. Tierney, E. Bibby and Messrs. Buchanan, G. Coles, Diamond, Spackman, E. Bibby, H. Robb, W. Freemantle, J. Beachen, O. Harris, E. Bradley, J. F. Bell. COMMITTEE MEETING. At the subsequent committee meeting, the following were elected as schedule committee:—Cut flowers, Messrs. G. and W. Coles; sweet pea, Messrs. Buchanan and Hardy; fruit and vegetables, Messrs. W. Freemantle, E. Bibby and Beachen; home industries, Mesdames Harris, E. Bibby; fancy work, Mrs Tierney; school section, Miss I. Cossar and Mr. J. F. Bell. It was decided to hold the show on December 6. The judges who had acted at the previous show are to be asked to act again.
