BHERENDEN MEETING. | ADDRESS BY MISS MACMILLAN. The October meeting of the Sheren<len Women's Institute, which was hell in the hall on Friday, was very largely attended. Mrs Noel' Beamish presided. The chief feature of the afternoon was a most interesting and instructive address by Miss MacMillan. She chose for her subject Ideal Home Life, and very numerous indeed were the helpful hints, etc., she gave her listeners on the management of a home, howto make the best use of one's time in She home, etc. Two competitions in the flower section, one for ranunculi and the other a •mall bunch of flowers, called forth a delightful exhibition of beautiful blooms. Miss Molly Doole gained first {place for her ranunculi. Miss Paton second and Mrs T. Dysart third place. For her very beautiful bunch of flowers Mrs Butt was awarded first place. Mrs J. Lowe second and Lady Russell third. After Miss MacMillan had delivered her address she judged the large entry for the best pot of marmalade. After opening each bottle and testing the ynannalade, Miss MacMillan gave Mrs M. Connor’s entry first place. Mrs J. Lowe's second and Miss B. Shield’s third. After a dainty afternoon tea served by the hostesses for the afternoon, Mrs and Miss Magill and Mrs and Miss Ibbotson, the reading of the play “Elizabeth Refuses,” by Mrs Boyd, Miss J. Lowe, Miss N. Attwood, Miss 11. Ibbotson and Mrs T. Dysart was greatly enjoyed. A hearts; vote of thanks was then passed to Miss MacMillan and the singing of the National Anthem brought a 9Nry happy afternoon to a close.
