HASTINGS BOYS’ BAND

First Public Appearance on Sunday About eight months ago the Hastings Citizens’ Band undertook the formation of a hoys’ band for Hastings. A cheap set of brass instruments was procured, and within a short while a team of boys was soon in training under the able tuition of Conductor C. Bryant. Great strides have been made by these lads, their ages ranging from ton years upwards, and it is anticipated that some first-class bandsmen will be turned out in. the near future. On Sunday afternoon in Cornwall Park commencing at 2 30 p.m., the boys will make their first public appearance in a first-class programme of band music comprising marches, selections, fantasias, waltzes, and descriptive numbers as follows:- -March, “Staunch and True”; overture, “Ivydene”; waltz, 'Love s Greeting ”; march. ’ The Drum Major" , descriptive fantasia, “The Young Recruit’’: selection, “Scotia’’; intermezzo, 'Frisky Footsteps”; humorous item, “Who Killed Cock Robin march, “Vivacity.” As this will be the first appearance of this young combination in public, the citizens of Hastings are earnestly requested to attend and show their appreciation of the good work that is being done lo foster music among tho youth of the town. A collection will bo taken up in aid of the band’s funds tn enable them to procure new and suitable music for their future pio grammes.
