STRUCK DEAD BY LIGHTNING
MAORI KILLED OUTRIGHT By Telegraph—Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 2. A Maori named Wanau was struck dead by lightning in a paddock at Oamata this evening. The deceased was a married man, with several children. Wanau was walking across the paddock with his son, who, though only about eight feet away from his father when the flash came, was unharmed. Wanau’s death was immediate. A brief thunderstorm followed a sunny and exceedingly hot day. Rain clouds quickly gathered and heavy rain fell, accompanied by lightning, and within an hour the evening was again perfect.
