JOHN HOBBS MEMORIAL
In St. Matthew’s Chapel DEDICATION ON SUNDAY The screens erected as a part of the St. Matthew’s Parish memorial to the late Rev. John Hobbs were completed to-day, and will be dedicated at the eleven o’clock service at St. Matthew’s Church on Sunday morning by the Very Rev. J. B. Broeklehurst, Doan of Waiapu. The screens are situated on the southern side of the chapel, and add much to the beauty of the interior of the church. The work has been carried out in rimu, and takes the form of two screens each ten feet wide, and containing seven deep and narrow panes of the finest plate-glass. In the eastern screen there is a door, which is a part of the screen design, leading into the •■hapr.l, and the top of each panel consists of leaded plate-glass. A bronze memorial plate inscribed with blue enamel letters has been placed between the arches. The whole of the work, beautifully designed and carefully executed by W. G. Monk, makes a handsome and fitting memorial to one who was a greatly loved and faithful servant of his church and its people. A memorial of Italian marble, inscribed with lettering and erected on the north wall of the chancel by the relatives of the late John Hobbs will also be unveiled and dedicated at the 11 a.m. service.
