The Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, Prime Minister, left Wellington last night on a visit to Christchurch. He will return on Tuesday morning.

The Prince of Wales lunched with the directors of tho Bank of Scotland, and subsequently was initiated into the Royal Order of Scottish Freemasons by Lord Elgine, states a London cable.

The wedding took place recently at the Cuba Street Methodist Church, Palmerston North, of Mary Caroline, eldest daughter of Mrs A. Watts and the late Mr C. W. Watts, of Palmerston North, to Stanley Huia, third son of Mr and Mrs A. J. Pethrick, of Napier. The bride was escorted by her uncle, Mr R. T. Watts, of Hastings. Their future home will be in Dannevirke.

Mr F. C. Perry, clerk to the Waitomo County Council, has been appointed New Zealand secretary to the Mission to Lepers in succession to the Rev. F. A. Crawshaw, Palmerston North, who leaves for Australia shortly. Mr Perry has had considerable experience in Christian work, and is president of the County Clerks’ Association. —Press Assn.

The Rev. 8. G. Compton, who came out from England in 1903 as first warden of the Hikurangi Maori College, and who was afterward vicar of Levin, has recently received preferment in England, states the “Church Chronicle.” He has left Hartshill, in the diocese of Coventry, where he has served for the last six years, for the living of Crowle, in tho neighbouring diocese of Worcester.

Mr J. H. Chapman, a member of the permanent secretariat of the League of Nations, formerly of the Customs Department, Wellington, arrived at Auckland to-day on furlough. On his way to the Dominion he attended the conference of the International Institute of Statistics at Mexico City, 48 countries being represented—Press Association.

Mr W. E. Anderson has been appointed secretary and treasurer of the Auckland Provincial Employers’ Federation in succession to the late Mr S. E. Wright. Mr Anderson was born in Dunedin, and is a eon of the Hon. G. J. Anderson, a former Minister of Labour. He saw active service during the war, and after returning he was with the Repatriation 'Department in Auckland for a year. In 1921 he was appointed assistant secretary to the Auckland Provincial Employers’ Federation.
