The Mayor of Napier (Mr C. O. Morse) has assured the Tc Awa Citizens’ League that a bathing pool will be made at Te Awa. The statement was greeted last night with applause from league members who gathered in St. Luke’s Hall to discuss the provision of a swimming course on the old siver site, the Te Awa Swimming Club committee decided not to move the pavilion to a spot on the beach near Sale street. It is possible that the Napier Borough Council will assist in the construction of spillways to make a 200-yards course. The club has already organised a working-bee to that end. The Napier borough authorities are determined to put a stop to the practice of small boys wilfully damaging flowers, shrubs and trees in the various borough reserves. The Mayor (Mr. C. 0. Morse) spoke of this matter yesterday, saying that a salutary example would be made of any person caught trespassing on the reserves and causing damage. The assistants of the reserves superintendent, too, are on the watch for youthful .vandals.
