MAN’S DESCENT
Two Missing Links Found Two missing links in man’s descent have now been established, says “The Times,” referring to the pronouncement by Dr. L. 8. B. Leakey, leader of the archaeology research expeditions to East Africa since 3926. He told the Anthropological Institute that ho was now satisfied that the Kanjcrn skulls must be regarded as true specimens of primitive man, and thus the oldest authenticated specimens yet die covered. He added that the Kannm mandible, which the East African expedition also discovered, belonged to a remoter period, perhaps I’liocene, but in view of the X-ray examination of the roots of the teeth, he considered it should rank as a new species of primitive man, to bo regarded as man’s true an eestor, at least ns old os the Java. Peking and Piltdown specimens. The fragment of the femur accom panying the Kanjera skulls belonged to a muscular man who walked fully erect. Dr. Leakey has thus taken the history of man further back than elsewhere tn the world, supporting Darwin’s theory that Africa was the cradle of the human raee, says “The Times.” “Hard Times.” Us* Hairy Dves stead of buving new frocks.
