With reference to new regulations gazetted governing the new system ol awards for New Zealand territorials and permanent forces, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe points out that awards have been standardised throughout the Empire The only difference in the standardised decoration so far as New Zealand is concerned will be the name New Zealand in the title on the barbrooch mounting. Decorations and medals replaced in New Zealand by new medals and decorations are: Colonial Auxiliary Force officers’ decoration , long-service and good-con-duct medal for colonial forces; Colonial Auxiliary Force long-service medal; New Zealand long and efficient service medal; .nd New Zealand territorial service medal. These will, however, continue to he awarded to those officers and other ranks who qualified for them before September 22, 1931. from which date the new awards came into operation. It is understood that one of the effects of the change in the system will fw a reduction in the number of medals awarded for long and efficient service, and that this condition applies to all parts of the Empire.—Press Association.
