ELECTION POSSIBILITY SUGGESTION OF SURTAX SORRY PLIGHT OF FARMERS LONDON, August 17. The "Daily Telegraph’s” Dublin correspondent says; "It is now realised that the Government may decide t* force nn election with the abolition of the Senate as its main objective. Thia wjll win much support. On the other hand, Mr de Valera has lost support by the revival of the Public Safety Act. "It is suggested that a surtax would be imposed on incomes of over £2OOO, affecting about 2000 taxpayers. "A striking example of the plight farmers was given at the opening day of the autumn sheep sales here. Only 52 sheep were sold out of 1000. Soma lots brought no bids; others went to 13 and 13 shillings a head. The highest price was a guinea for Cheviot ewes,, but only 20 were sold at this figure.
