WAGES CUTS OPPOSED
CANADIAN RAILWAYMEN CALL A STRIKE BALLOT. MONTREAL, Aug. 16. Following the calling of a strike ballot, returnable on September 1, representatives of 200,000 railwaymen stated to-day that a suit would be entered for the recovery of all wages kept by the companies under the ten per cent, cut instituted on February 1. They claim that the wage agreement has been violated. The strike ballot is an answer to the railways’ announcement of a second ten per cent, reduction.
