AMERICAN POLICY OPENINGS IN EASTERN MARKETS ADMINISTRATIVE CONFERENCE SUMMONED. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received 18, 11.45 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 17. The Farm Act administrators have called a conference for next Monday at Portland, Oregon, to discuss plans for the new export movement of wheat to the Orient. Mr Wallace, Secretary of Agriculture, stated to-day that there was a prospect of an additional processing tax on wheat and cotton if the price of these products continued to decline. Mr George Peck, chief administrator of the Farm Act, said that a proposal would be considered at the conference of wheat exporters being held at Portland on Monday for a marketing agreement with North Pacific exporters, under which they would be reimbursed for losses in selling wheat abroad at less than the American price.
