DISTRICT NEWS. From Our Own Correspondent. During the week the pupils of the Ongaonga School were assembled to witness tho ceremony of planting h totara tree in memory of the late Mr Henry Hill, who was for many years connected with educational affairs in Hawke’s Bay. The headmaster (Mr J. F. Bell) spoke to the pupils concerning the importance of the ceremony, after which the tree, donated by Mr E. E. Bradley, was planted by Joyce Bradley of Form 11. The school was recently visited bv Messrs Lewis and Lomas, the Educa tion Board’s inspector’s, who afterwards inspected the Wakarnra and Makarora schools. The condition of Mr H. Farghcr, who sustained consusaion on Saturday morn-
ing, through falling from a motor lorry, shows a little improvement. The many friends of Mrs C. Bouck will be sorry to hear that she has hud to enter the district hospital. Mrs T. Russell, of Hastings, a former resident of the Ongaonga district, 10 nt present the guest of Mr and Mrs G. Coles.
