ANTI-KIDNAP COVER
RICH AMERICANS’ POLICIES. CHICAGO, Aug. 11. Lloyd’s are insuring prominent wealthy Chicagoans, through its own insurance agents here, against'being kidnapped. Secrecy prevails regarding the applications, which are cabled to Lloyd s in secret code. The deal is arranged by Lloyd’s agent without members of the staff knowing the name of the person insured. Only persons of unquestioned reputation are considered. Lloyd’s refuse to consider lake kidnappings. The maximum amount of insurance is 100,000 dollars for an adult, and half that for a child. The rate is three-quarters of 1 per cent, for adults, and 1| per cent, for children. Lloyd’s also insure against injury by kidnappers, by a personal accident policy with a kidnap clause. Considerable demand for the insurance prevails here. Inquiries for Lloyd’s kidnap insurance are also being made from New York, Kansas City and other centres.
