MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. PREPARING FOR THE SEASON. Arrangements for the coming Bugby League season in Hawke’s Bay were further dealt with by the management committee at the League rooms, Station street. Clubs’ affiliations were received from Kiwi, Westshore, City, Clive, Ahuriri and Taradale, each club fielding a senior and junior team, while so far only four third grade teams were affiliated. The Hawke’s Bay League has given an insurance to players while playing in matches under their jurisdiction, whereby each senior and junior player will receive 25/- per week for nine weeks, and each third grade player 20/- per week for nine weeks while incapacitated. A lease has been secured of 10 acres of land on the Taradale road next to the embankment. The area will be called Athletic League Park. It is the intention of the League to lay this site out as a modern football field, having regard for the general public, and the League has power to sub-let to allied sports, cricket or athletic sports gatherings. ’The grounds will bo put in order for this season’s competitions, and the League has secured also playing fields at Clive, Taradale and Westshore. The trophies of the former Hawke’s Bay Rugby League have arrived from the New Zealand Council and will be on view at Mr C. E. Maney, chemist, Napier. Jhey comprise eight cups and a challenge shield. The constitution, rules and by-laws have been adopted and confirmed and are now in the hands of the printers. The Hawke’s Bay Rugby League is to be incorporated. It was reported to the management committee by the club delegates that each team was in solid training, and that the coaches are teaching the finer points of the game.
