U.S. ECONOMY BILL
APPROVED BY SENATE. POWERS FOR PRESIDENT. Washington, March 15. The Senate to-night passed the Administration's half billion dollar Economy Bill after putting aside all major amendments. It goes back to the House for approval of minor Senate alterations. The measure empowers the President to slash payments to veterans and Federal salaries.
