GARDEN PARTY

FUNCTION AT TAKAPAU SUCCESSFUL AFTERNOON From Our Own Correspondent A garden fete under the auspices of the Takapau Presbyterian Church was held at “Brookwood’’ Takapau, on Wednesday afternoon, Mr and Mrs N. M. Paulsen kindly making their house and grounds available for the purpose. Favoured with good weather and ideal surroundings the fete was very successful and was responsible for augmenting the church funds tc the extent of some £25. Clock golf, tennis, games, competitions and the usual novelties of a wellrun garden party enabled those present to spend a very enjoyable afternoon. The various' stalls, produce, fancy, sweets and jumble, as well as the tea kiosk, did good business, and were well patronised. The winners of the various competitions were as follows —Clock golf , Mrs W. Hobson and Mr W. Cuthbertson; sheep guessing. Miss Aldrich; cake guessing, Mrs W. G. Morton; cushion, Mr F. H. Tillier; sweet basket, Mr J. A. Grant. The promoters and the ladies guild in particular, which was primarily responsible, are to be congratulated on the success of the function which, besides substantially helping the church funds, provided a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon’s outing for the largo number present.
