FOOTBALL CLUB MEETING. (Own Correspondent.) 'J here was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the United Football Club, Mr J. Ashby presiding. The report congratulated the junior team on again winning the championship, going right through without a defeat. The election of officers for the season resulted: —Patron, Mr A. E. Jull. M.P.; president, Mr W. J. Wood; chairman, Mr J. Ashby; vice-presi-dents, Messrs W. H. Rathbone, W. A. Sawyer, 0. Upton, D. McLean, D. MacPherson, J. H. August, T. Wills, F. Eagle, J, 1). O’Sullivan, F. Newrick, and Dr. J. P. Walker; auditor, Mr F. W. Holt; secretary, Mr E. C. Kingston; treasurer, Mr F. Eagle; management committee, Messrs J. Boult, R. Wynn, R N. Verran, G. Knobloch, F. W. Holt, J. A. Lockhart, E. Kingston, W. Rust, J. O’Sullivan; delegates, Messrs R. Wynn (reelected), J. Ashby, N. Verran, F. Holt. It was decided that no senior player of last season who is unfinancial will be allowed to play in the coming season until last year’s dues arc paid. It was further decided that all subscriptions must be paid within one month of the opening of the season, the secretary, selector, and captain being appointed to grve effect to this resolution .Subscriptions were fixed as follow: Senior and junior 5/-, third grade 2/6. '1 he following will comprise the classification committee: Messrs Wynn, Verran, Knobloch and Holt. Mr Verran was appointed senior selector and Mr J. Fletcher junior. An honorarium of £3 3/- was granted to the secretary. 'I he following were appointed a dance committee, with power to act: Messrs G. Knobloch. G. Curran, H. Hopkins, ,1. Boult, N. MacPherson F. W. Holt, and A. Collett. A vote ol thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting. Mr H. Fletcher (town clerk) is spending bis annual leave at Taupo. Mr T. Talbot, manager of the gasworks, is on annual leave and is visiting his daughter at Hamilton. Notice that he had fixed Wednesday as the statutory closing day fur shops in the county was received' at the Palangata County Council meeting on I uesday Irom the Minister of Labour, the Hon. A. Hamilton. Mis Lyons left by the mail train yesterday morning for Wanganui to visit her son.
