THE AUTUMN SHOW

ANOTHER GREAT SUCCESS ATTENDANCE AGAIN LARGE. REVIEW OF THE EXHIBITS. The Hawke’s Bay A. and P. Society’s Autumn Show to-day was another outstanding success, and proved to be of undiminished popularity with the public. Its great and varied interest was maintained at the high standard that the people have become so well accustomed to, and both as a popular outing and as an occasion for imparting instruction to the farmer in the most agreeable and effective way. it was a notably fine show. The farming exhibits this year were •1 exceptional quality, and the number and quality of special displays, got together for the purpose of giving practical demonstrations in several specialist departments of agriculture, were of uncommonly high quality. The rather gloomy weather indicaturns were happily belied as the morning wore on, and the sun came out gaily and brightly just at the time when show patrons were thinking of getting ready to leave for the show. After lunch, when the weekly halfholiday had begun, the general public began to arrive in their usual crowds, and the attendance by the early afternoon was most gratifyingly large. There was plenty for patrons to see, and it was noticed that as usual the dog section was one of the most popular of all the popular attractions that were offering. The Produce Hall was perhaps the centre of the most universal interest, as it generally it, and the great variety of the exhibits, both trade exhibits and private, made the hall a show in itself. The weather is proverbially kind to the Hawke’s Bay A. and P. Society, and the society’s good fortune seems to be invariable. -Much of the continued success that the society enjoys, however, is attributable to its excellent staff of officials and organisers, and once again this year a very great measure of praise is due to the show committee, to the judges and stewards, •nd to the show society’s secretary, Mr. A. M. Rctcmeyer, and his associate, Mr. F. C. Wilkinson. The man•gement of every department of the she v is a marvel of efficiency, and hat statement was as true of to-day as of other occasions.
