THE HASTINGS BRANCH. MONTHLY MEETING HELD. The usual monthly meeting of the Hastings branch of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children was held ou Tuesday. Present: Miss William* (chair), Mesdames M Bell, H. A. Fannin, A. R. Greenwood, E. J. Herrick, G. F. Roach, C. Stubbs, A. S. Tonkin, W. F. Wellwood, the Misse* Keith and S. Wellwood, and R. Sunderland (hon. secretary). Apologie* were received from Mesdames C. A. Hendry, W. Keith, G. A. Maddison, A. 1). S. Whyte, and R. Wright. The nurses' report for February submitted to the meeting read as follows: New cases, town 15, country 4; visitors to office 995; visits to home*, town 236, country 126; advice over telephone 60; letters received 2; letters written 3. Country districts visited: Havelock North four, times, Mangateretere 2, Whakatu 3, Clive 3, Hauiuoana 2, Te Awanga 2, Longland* 2, Twyford 3. Fernhill 1, Tunanui 1, Crownthorpe 1. An address was read which wa* given by Dr. Martin Tweed (Heretaunga) in his official capacity a* medical adviser to the council of the society, at the recent provincial conferences at Wanganui and Aiykland. In it Dr. Tweed counselled all branches and members to adhere strictly to the original aims and policy of the society. Arrangements were discussed for the work in the Memorial Building at the Autumn Show. A further appeal was made to mothers to bring their babies regularly to the rooms where possible, and in this way help to keep down the car expenses so as to save curtailment of tho work owing to present financial conditions. Mrs A. Bell and Mrs Herrick were appointed visiting committee for the ensuing month.
