MINERS TO RESUME TO-DAT. OWNERS’ MINOR CONCESSIONS Invercargill, March 12 After a strike extending over six months, the coal miners of the Ohni field will icsume work to-morrow morning. A meeting of the union was held today to consider Hie report of the <eeent conference in Christchurch. A secret ballot resulted: 144 against resumption, and 113 for. As a threefilths majority is required to continue the strike, the miners will resume work. The conditions will be substantially those set out by the owners prior to the strike, with various concessions, including the right to contract through union representatives and slight increases in wages amounting to three-farthings per ton at Mosshank and twopence per ton in the solid at Linton and Wairaki The companies have agreed to carry 20 per cent more hands than norma] requirements to run the pits; in other words, work will be rationed, but at .Mossbank. it is stated, all hands can be absorbed The hire-and file clause, which 'as been Ibe chief bone of contention, will remain iti the agreement, the owners having won their point. Ihe agreement w li expire on Janna y 31 next.
