(Received 13, 11.35 a.m.) Riga, March 12 The O.G.P.U. shot, after an invest: - gation but without trial. 35 peasant officials allegedly responsible for catastrophic losses of tractors and machinery in order to sabotage the agricultural programme and reduce Russia to starvation. Twenty-two were sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment and 18 to eight years’ imprisonment. The majority belong to the Ukraine and the North Caucasus, where the Soviet is intensifying terrorism as a warning to recalcitrants. There will be further sentences unless the preparations tor sowing improve.
