The Bev. N. F. E. Bobertshawe, the new vicar of St, Mark’s Parish Church, Wellington, arrived from England by the liner Tainui yesterday. .Mr Bobertshawe is a son of a former vicar of Danncvirke. He studied in Auckland took the degree of Master of Arts at Auckland University College in 1911, being ordained in the Waiapu diocese in the same year. He was appointed curate at St. Matthew’s, Hastings, in 1913. and in the following year went to England, subsequently joining the staff of St. Paul’s, Middlesborough. He was awarded the M.C. in. 1918 when he was chapplain with the Imperial Forces in France. After the war he returned to New Zealand and from 1919 to 1924 was chaplain at King’s College, Auckland. He was then appointed vicar of Thames, New Zealand, and after a time went to England again as vicar of Newington, Kent, which appointment ho held until leaving England by the Tainui. A civil action came before Mr Justice Blair in 'the Supreme Court at Christchurch to-day, when Cooper and Pryce, Ltd., motor body builders, of Christchurch, claimed from Boyds Bros, and Kirk, Ltd., merchants, ChristcSurch, £2649. Plaintiff, the claim stated, was the holder and payee of four promissory notes for £825, £B5O, £436 and £538 made by Royds Motors Ltd. The notes were presented for payment and dishonoured. Plaintiff also claimed interest at 8 per cent, and the costs of the action. The defence was a general denial. It was also held that if the promissory notes were in fact dishonoured, which was denied, no notice of their dishonour was given defendants. The hearing is proceeding.- Press Association.
